Launching of the Bibliobus

What a fun day!
Although the Bibliobus has already been traveling through the South for some weeks now, providing children from marginalized areas with access to reading and recreational activities, we were glad to be able to present it officially at the Salon du Livre 2012. This was possible thanks to the Institut Francais, which has been supporting ALPHA throughout the implementation of its projects with kindness and constance.

Special thanks also to the Foundation CMA CGM which co-founded the Bibliobus and made our dream come true!

Launch of Research @NDU: "Towards a Strategic Arts Based Approach to Peacebuilding in Lebanon: Between Theory and Practice"

Today ALPHA attended an event at NDU at the Zouk el Mosbeh campus for the launch of the research: "Towards a Strategic Arts Based Approach to Peacebuilding in Lebanon: Between Theory and Practice". The research conducted by Rita Sabat in collaboration with The Peace-building Academy focused also on the work implemented by ALPHA in the South of Lebanon for art-therapy purposes. It was great being part of this adventure, and we thank the Peace Building Academy wholeheartedly for taking interest in our work. :-)
The Peace-building Academy (PBA) is an independent, non-partisan, non-governmental organization that promotes peace and non-violent means of conflict management in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The PBA  arose in response to the great number of current and potential violent conflicts in the MENA region in 2009.  Its proclaimed goal is to: “Increase the capacity of the MENA region to deal with, manage and prevent violent conflict”.
Rather than implementing peacebuilding activities itself, the PBA will support organizations, governments and intergovernmental organizations that engage in peacebuilding  in the region, by means of capacity building, knowledge production and sharing, the opening-up of spaces for interaction and cooperation and building of an infrastructures for peace.

The complete text on ALPHA's contribution to the research will be published in the next few days...

It was a fun-filled day with lots of games, theater plays, magicians, and other activities for children of the South of Lebanon. Seeing them smile and enjoy a great, troub-free day was amazing and this was all possible thanks to our volunteers, the various donors such as the French Embassy to Lebanon, the UNIFIL batallions, the local community, etc. THANKS so much for this great Spring party! :-)
