The Peace-building Academy (PBA) is an independent, non-partisan,
non-governmental organization that promotes peace and non-violent means
of conflict management in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)
region.
The PBA arose in response to the great number of current and
potential violent conflicts in the MENA region in 2009. Its proclaimed
goal is to: “Increase the capacity of the MENA region to deal with,
manage and prevent violent conflict”.
Rather than implementing peacebuilding activities itself, the PBA
will support organizations, governments and intergovernmental
organizations that engage in peacebuilding in the region, by means of
capacity building, knowledge production and sharing, the opening-up of
spaces for interaction and cooperation and building of an
infrastructures for peace.
